Carjackings in Cook County have increased 44% since last year.
Carjackings in Cook County are on pace to be the worst in two decades. According to the Sheriff’s Office, carjackings have increased by nearly 44% this year compared to the same period last year. In March, a task force was formed by the Chicago Police Department, the Cook County sheriff’s office, the Illinois State Police, and others to try and put the brakes on carjackings.
